Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
