World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers In the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling extended contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game series drew 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American average was 16.1 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise over last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
